About A Boy
Week 2: Trans Homecoming King
From what I know of Shaun, he probably would never run for Homecoming King. Scratch that, he would for shits and giggles. He would probably win too, he's just that cool.
Anyway, this week's story comes from Michigan. A guy named Oakleigh Reed ran from Homecoming King, won, but legally was declared as female on school records and thus the administration decided to take the title from him. (link to article below)
You've got to be shitting me right?
The administration even went so far to say that gender identity isn't in their anti-discrimination statement. So just because it isn't in their statement it's okay to discriminate?
People voted for him and he won. It's that simple. Apparently not, these idiots have the heads stuck so far up you know where to give a crap about how gets elected King and Queen. I'm going to be like Michelle for a second here..."Really? Really?"
Regardless of my opinions on this type of tradition, if it makes him happy and the rest of the school, the people who voted for him, happy just let it be.
Get your ass out of the school administrative business if your going to be worrying about Homecoming King & Queen. 1) you're obviously NOT qualified to be working for a school system since your promoting horrible values to children/teens by upholding such discrimination, 2) you obviously don't uphold any of the values of the educational system that is supposed to encourage individuality and thinking for ones self, and 3) stop being bitter just because you lost your Homecoming King or Queen position.
So that's it. One nice and simple fuck you to Oakleigh Reed from myself and the Transgender community.
That's it for me this week! Until then,
