Turning Intern will be added to our web series line-up on its debut!
Officially created by writer Alex Dawson and director Peter Conrad, TI really evolved from a collaborative brain-storming idea between a group of friends and its about...eh..uhm...I'll let the synopsis handle this;
In this cheeky and irreverent web series, five unpaid interns connect over the internet and decide to try to fight the system with what little power they have. Unexpected (and occasionally hilarious) consequences follow. This series is both a satire of the current economic landscape for many young people trying to enter the working world, as well as a heartwarming tale of five twenty- somethings thrown together by circumstance, who, after many amusing personality conflicts, unite in a common mission.
January, 2015! We thought about December... but there's just too much holiday mayhem, and we doubt many people will want to be tuning into a cheeky series about jilted interns when they have to make Christmas dinner for 50 relatives (or maybe they would, who knows?!) Either way, we're going with January, 2015. Let's just call it our New Year's Resolution to get this show out there ;).
If god-forbid you don't reach you funding goal, would you still be able to move forward?
We will hopefully still be able to move forward without the funding, but it would mean significant cuts to the quality level of our post production that we really don't want to have to make. We don't want to compromise production quality, as we feel that we have an important story to tell (though we are a little biased!!) and we want to tell it at a quality level that does it justice.
How many seasons do you ideally want to be able to tell your story?
I've written the show as a one- season story-arc at this time, as funding for multiple seasons has always been a major concern. However, if this show takes off, and we're able to garner more funding, I can definitely see more seasons in our future!
How many episodes will there be in the 1st season and how long are each one?
There are seven episodes in our first season and they are about six- eight minutes each. We wanted to focus on quality, not quantity. Our show is a fast- paced comedy, so we wanted to make sure it maintains a snappy and fun pace. We also wanted to cater to the busy lifestyle of tv- show watchers these days. Who has more than a ten- minute attention span these days?! I know I don't!
The cast of TI are pictured to the left and the characters they play as explained are quite an eclectic group that could be the pick of anyone of our bffs. They include;
Mich (played by Michelle McLeod): A highly eccentric intern who is veritably homeless due to the seemingly never- ending length of her internship, and who's best friend is her mini- cactus which she keeps beside her desk.
Keera (played by Kailey Gilcrest): An idealistic and somewhat militant human rights activist, who is stuck working as an unpaid intern assistant to a corrupt defense lawyer to fulfill the mandates of her law program.
Jill (played by Natalie Jantzi): A highly intelligent unpaid intern who is working in tech research in a competitive, and restrictive internship. She claims to be literally and physically trapped in her internship and broadcasts for help through a weekly Youtube video.
