Pride & what that means to us...

I often wonder about the irony of my small islands and how oblivious my fellow citizens are.
In Carnival they revel in pride colours and dance with same sex partners, but think nothing of it, but if they know a LGBTQ couple is dancing they go mad.
That makes no sense to me, but try as we might there are so many conflicts within our own ranks that only until recently we have had a consensus about how, when and by what means, do to we employ to move forward.
I have to make it clear, homosexuality in Trinidad and Tobago is illegal, we can be thrown in jail for showing degrees of open affection in public, the degree of which is at the discretion of the police. We have absolutely no rights as gay people, there is no protection for discrimination against us on housing, jobs and hate crimes except our rights as a normal citizen. So SW has begun her pride celebrations with the topic of trying to understand and explain how we has a community deal with all our adversities...
