Sweden stunned world's #1 team Germany by scoring 4 after falling behind with 2 goals within the first four minutes of the match. First with superb strike from Dzsenifer Marozsan in the 2nd minute, then through Simone Lauder two minutes later. But the Swedes showed true grit as they regained their composure and both Caroline Seger and Sofia Jacobsson scored a brace to lift victory over the current European Champions.

The USWNT needed 2 goals from midfielder Carli Lloyd to come from behind after Norway took the lead in the 44th minute as 18 year-old Ada Hegerberg scored against the run of play. The Americans applied pressured in and around the penalty area as the second half began but almost conceded another goal if it were it not for a fantastic reaction save from Hope Solo on her first game back from suspension. 3 minutes later Lloyd pulled the USA back level with a rocket, then secured the win as she converted from the penalty spot.

It took a brace from Swiss midfielder, Lara Dickermann to give her team its first goal at their first Algarve Cup. She scored from the penalty in the 58th and from the run of play in the 68th minute.

Reigning World Cup Champions Japan losing to Denmark 2-1. The Dannes failed to qualify for this year's World Cup. Japan went under two minutes into the game after a mad scramble in front of net, allowing Denmark's Sanne Troelsgaard to pounce on a rebound. Japan leveled 15 minutes later through Ango's rebound off Yuki Ogimi's effort , but succumbed for a second time as Johanna Rasmussen one timed it from a perfectly sent cross by Troelsgaard.
France 1-0 Portugal
France was almost surprised by a resilient defending by tournament host Portugal. The French needed a late header by striker Eugenie Le Sommer to secure a narrow win.
