The Androgynous vault is a blog (and sometimes vlog) about the lives of two androgynous girls in Brisbane. This blog offers a perspective of life through androgynous eyes.
Volume #11 - Androgynous Clothing![]() Hi friends, once again Ninja here but MoneT sends her regards! She is busy planning an event for tomorrow night. I believe there will be live bands, djs and a silent art auction. If you live in the Brisbane area or might just happen to be in Brisbane, Qld, Australia tomorrow night you should definitely come along! Of course if you don't live around these parts why not just encourage everyone you do know in Brisbane to come along? I'll be there! That should be incentive enough.....right?
Anyway, moving on...the topic for this weeks discussion is something very important to us androgynous folk and that is.... *Cue loud trumpets* CLOTHING!
The first question I pose to my faithful readers - where the heck do you find suitable clothes when you're a girl that likes to wear boy clothes and all boys clothes are too big for you!? Well unfortunetly I don't have THE answer...but I do have some suggestions and I sure can tell you what my general clothes shopping habits are. Let us begin... A simple Google search of 'androgynous clothing' will get you no where and I mean absolutely no where. I've trolled Google for hours looking for online stores or leads to where the secret may lie but I havn't found anything to this day, instead I will share with you some tricks of the trade. I might just point out my suggestions are directed at androgynous girls because...well because that's my own personal experience. Suggestion number one: Mens clothing stores This one might seem obvious but a lot of the time the clothes in these stores are too big for some tiny androgynous girls. If you're lucky you might find some stores that stock very small mens sizes and when you do milk it and buy up as much as you can because it's very rare! Suggestion number two: Boys section By boys section I mean youth or little boys section. Go into a clothing store and head straight to the little boys section. It may feel weird at first but you get used to it! You can find some awesome clothes and usually the largest size fits a lot of us androgynous girls perfectly! The really great thing about shopping in this section is that it's always so much cheaper than the adults section. The downfall is that you'll probably only be able to find shirts and clothes for the top half of your body in this section. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to squeeze into some of the sweet shorts you'll find in this section. Suggestion number three: online stores/ebay: Sometimes if you troll the internet for long enough you can find some cool clothes and hopefully you'll find something in your size! Suggestion number four: op shops I'm not sure what the term for 'op shop' is in America but I just consulted my girlfriend who has traveled in America and she believes they are called 'Thrift shops'. What I'm talking about is a shop that sells second hand clothes. Again I can't speak for 'thrift shops' in the states but here in Australia at our 'op shops' you can find some awesome clothing. Vintage and modern and all sorts of things in between and all sorts of interesting colours and the best part - all sorts of sizes! I am really interested to know if there are any online shops where androgynous girls and guys can shop. If you are currently reading this and know of any please let me know. That the androgynous vault for another week. I hope you have a great week, remember cups of tea solve everything and don't forget to be awesome! - Ninja. Comments? Question? Anything?
