The Androgynous vault is a blog (and sometimes vlog) about the lives of two androgynous girls in Brisbane. This blog offers a perspective of life through androgynous eyes.
Volume Thirteen - Beauty
Hello folks, it's that time of the week again. It's your latest installment of the androgynous vault with your favourite ninja.I hope everyone enjoyed moneT's blog last week. I definitely did and hope to see more soon (*cough* hint!) haha I kid, anyway let's begin.
Every year around this time, it starts to smell like summer. You know what I mean, the air smells fresher, the sky seems more blue and you can't forget those magical hot nights.I don't mean to tear down that beautiful setting I just created, but I hate Summer. I hate it with tue fire of twelve suns, one of which is heating my side of the world as I write this. It's odd that I should hate summer, I've grown up in a state known as 'the sunshine state'. I've spent 22 summers here (um actually minus one summer I spent abroad).
I should explain, it's not that I hate 'heat', no I like heat and I like warmth but on a different scale. You know that feeling when you've just got put of the ocean and you're wrapping yourself in your towel and you're freezing but your towel is so warm? Or the feeling of the sun soaking your skin on a cold winters day? Or the feeling of sitting in front of a warm fire on a cold night? That's the kind of heat and warmth I like. Not the heat that makes you sweat where you didn't know you could. The heat that feels thick in the air, yuck. I hate it and that my friends is why I hate summer.
Yet as I sit right now on the back patio at my girlfriend's house with a cool breeze brushing past me and some Canadian whisky by my side I can't help but appreciate how happy this weather makes me feel. Have you ever noticed how weather can tell you of things. Like right now this weather is telling me that Christmas is close. It's telling me it's time to go to the beach. It's telling me it's the perfect day to do all those things you've been planning to do.
While I sit here I can't help but think that this world is truly beautiful. Yet we only see it sometimes. Sometimes this world can be so ugly that I think we just forget about the beautiful things but even in the ugliest corners of the world I'm sure you can find a little beauty. You just have to go back to basics. Because beauty is basic. Beauty is basic and it's fundamental. It's foundations and it's roots. There's a little bit of beauty inside everything I think. Well thats how I see it anyway.
I have one piece of advice for everyone today and that is: go back to basics. If you're feeling down or sad, remember the things that make you happy. Basic things, like painting, or coloring in pictures, or parks, or taking your dog for a walk, or visiting family or taking a bubble bath, anything! Just think about it and do it and be happy because we have so much to be happy about.
That's all for today,
